Mission

The goal of Career Compass is to increase the number of students in Louisiana who attend a post-secondary institution upon high school graduation (technical, community and four-year universities). Our mission is to remove the obstacles that keep students from pursuing a post-secondary education.

At Career Compass, we know that to be successful tomorrow, the current generation must earn a degree or certificate today. In order to do that, students need to graduate from high school with a realistic plan for their futures. The problem is that the process is often difficult and discouraging, which can lead to students feeling powerless and frustrated. We believe that there is a place for every student after high school, even if they themselves don’t think so. As former educators and parents, we understand that every student faces unique obstacles in applying for college, which is why we have helped hundreds of thousands of middle and high school students gain access to opportunities after high school.

Since 2006, Career Compass has empowered more than 140,000 12th graders in schools across the state to develop realistic plans for the future and apply to education and training opportunities, with the goal of helping them graduate with plans for the future. State agencies, school districts, charter schools, and others seek partnership with us because of our track record of success, proven best practices, and our cost-effective, sustainable model to increase access to postsecondary education.
