We got to know Daisha in 2012 when she was a senior at Brusly High School. After being awarded the Boo Grigsby Foundation Scholarship, she attended Baton Rouge Community College. She later transferred to LSU, where she recently graduated with a B.A. in Music. Her Career Compass mentor provided guidance and support along the way. Today, Daisha is headed to grad school to get her master’s degree in Vocal Performance, with the hopes of building a career in the performing arts.

“Being a Boo Grigsby Foundation Scholar truly enabled me to worry less about financial issues. Before I took this scholarship, I didn’t even have a job to help support my attending college; and so, BGF gave me the leg-up that I needed to get started in school. This scholarship helped me in covering a good portion of my tuition, leaving me with enough money to purchase any required text books that I needed for classes.”

High School: Assumption High School, Class of 2020

Boo Grigsby Scholarship Duration: 2015-2020

College: Nicholls State University, Class of 2015

Degree Earned: B.F.A, Graphic Design, minor in business

We connected with Connor in 2015, when he was a rising senior at Assumption High School. After he won a spot in the Boo Grigsby Foundation Scholarship program, Connor attended Nicholls State University in pursuit of a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree. He recently graduated as part of the Nicholls State University Class of 2020 with a B.F.A. in Art with a concentration in graphic design, as well as a minor in business. He’s currently seeking work in the graphic design field at a firm in Baton Rouge or New Orleans.

“Due to the generosity of Mr. Grigsby, I was able to dedicate more time to school and less time worrying about my finances. I learned to prioritize my time and work past completion, so that my projects were the best I could make them. Without this scholarship, I would have graduated with much more debt and a less-than-ideal portfolio of work to show my future employers.”
