What Does Career Compass Look Like?
• We provide 1-2 coaches (and often an assistant) on each campus
• We blend in and are very approachable
• We work with students first in small groups, then one on one, meeting with every senior in both the fall and spring semesters (at least 2 times, no limit to number of times)
• We help each senior develop a College Success Plan (matching passions with capabilities) and then we assist the student in executing his/her plan by high school graduation
• We help the high schools facilitate and foster a college going culture
• We assist students with online career assessment through LAeportal
• We provide detailed information on schools and assist students in navigating our one stop access website (www.careercompassla.org)
• We assist students with paperwork associated with post-secondary education (including, but not limited to, ACT/SAT, college apps, FAFSA)
• We arrange to pay fees if necessary for applications and secure waivers when possible
• We assist guidance with dual enrollment
• We arrange post-secondary presentations, if desired
• We facilitate practice ACT
• We maximize results with minimal interruption (encourage students to return on lunch shift/after they are finished with their last class)
• We enlighten, encourage, and empower students to succeed after graduation!
